Type 99 Light Machine Gun

The Type 99 light machine gun was designed to provide covering fire for advancing infantry. It was gas-operated and had a rate of fire of 450-500 rounds per minute. A standard infantry bayonet could be attached to the gas block below the barrel. A limited production version was built for paratroopers which had a detachable stock and a forward-folding pistol grip. The Type 99 machine gun was built by the Japanese from 1939-1945.
