The SdKfz 251 was a German armored fighting vehicle. Several models and many variants for specialized purposes were built throughout World War II.

These half-tracks were used to provide transportation to mechanized infantry and to accompany the panzer divisions.They were designed with sufficient armor and weaponry to participate in infantry assaults.

As seen in photo, this half track was such a recent capture, that there has not been time to paint out the German cross and hence the identification with the large Polish flag. The Poles are aparently unable to mount the machine gun in the forward shield and the position is being manned by a soldier with a sub machine gun instead.
