German Nashorn tank destroyer

The Nashorn was an open topped German tank destroyer mounting an 88 mm antitank gun used in heavy armored units in World War II. It was based upon a lengthened Panzer IV hull with the engine moved forward toward the center. Four hundred seventy-three were built. Although this Panzer had a high profile and was very under-armored, still the mobile 88 mm gun proved to be quite successful and stayed in service until the end of the war. Photo credit: Canada.
